Annis Marie Chandler, age 88, Higgins Creek Road, Flag Pond, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, Unicoi County Memorial Hospital’s long-term care unit.
Mrs. Chandler was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and had lived in Flag Pond most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Estil and Maggie Phillips Harris.
She was a member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church and was a member of the former Flag Pond Eastern Star.
Mrs. Chandler never met a stranger, always had a kind word for everyone and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed quilting and cooking for all her family.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anison Chandler; daughter, Eleanor Rice; son-in-law, Dayton Rice; granddaughter, Rhonda Jane Rice; brother, Raymond Harris; and her sister, Lucille Shelton.
Survivors include a son, Roger Chandler and wife Lynne, Gray; two daughters, Val Chandler and Margery Lawrence and husband, Bill, all of Panama City, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Lisa Padgett and husband, Jim, Roger Chandler Jr. and wife Hannah, Tammy Kirkland and husband Stephen, David Tilson Jr. and wife Jennie, Michael Lawrence and wife
Tanza, David Lawrence and wife Ashleigh, and Daina Barber and husband, Lance; 16 great-grandchildren, Cody and Ryan Padgett; Sam, Joe, Fred, Henry, Wesley, George and James Chandler; Josh and Cole Kirkland; Daphne Tilson; Hailey, Ryan and Erin Lawrence; and Kylie Barber; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Reece Harris and Craig Shelton officiated. Music was provided by Gary Amos and Inez Chandler.
Active pallbearers were Jim Padgett, Cody Padgett, Ryan Padgett, David Tilson, Steve Kirkland and Roger Chandler Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Sonya Byrd, Charlie Johnson and Kendall Ambrose.
Committal services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Clear Branch community of Erwin.

Robert Ledford Funeral Home, 720 Ohio Ave., Erwin, was in charge.
