Alverta Johnson Lewis, 91, of Erwin, passed away at her residence on Monday, April 18, 2011. She is a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Robert L. and Sara Bennett Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was a seamstress for Industrial Garment and was employed with Southern Pottery for 25 years. She attended Trinity Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Myrtle Tittle and Geneva Day.
Survivors include her husband: Claude Lewis; two sons: Richard Lewis, wife Vicky, Bristol, and Gary Lewis, Erwin; daughter: Elaine Smith, husband Nathan, Erwin; grandchildren: Amanda Lewis, Phillip Lewis, Cody Smith and Justin Smith; great grandchildren: Haley Smith, Makayla Smith and Jamie Smith.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Talmadge Brown officiating. Music selections will be provided by Trinity Trio.
Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery.
Nephews and grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
