A.R. Morgan

A.R. Morgan, age 90, of Johnson City, passed away on, March 31, 2013, at Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City, TN. Mr. Morgan was born in Bostic, NC, and lived the rest of his life in Erwin, TN. A. R. was the eldest son of C. D. and Bessie Woods Morgan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cook Morgan, son, George Lee Morgan. Brothers, Sam Morgan, Lee Morgan and infant sisters, Elva and Jackie Morgan.

Mr. Morgan is survived by daughter, Kathryn Morgan Phillips and husband, Tommy of Pigeon Forge and Johnson City, TN

Brothers, Maj. Gen (Ret) Joe and wife Freda of Norman, OK
Sister-in-law, Rete’ Morgan of Johns Island, SC
Grandchildren, Laura and Will Morgan of Gainesville, FL
Special Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews

Mr. Morgan was a faithful (68 yr.) member of First Christian Church in Erwin. In Christian services as Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Youth sponsor.
Mr. Morgan was retired from the former Clinchfield Railroad with 45 yrs of service as Yardmaster. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII. As a young man, he earned the distinguished honor of Eagle Scout.

The graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin, Tn. for family and friends.

The life of A. R. Morgan will be remembered and honored at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the First Christian Church of Erwin with Dr. William Gwaltney, Dr. Henry Webb and Dr. Todd Edmondson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ruth and A. R. Morgan Scholarship at Emmanuel Christian Seminary, 1 Walker Drive, Johnson City, TN, 37601.
