Record joins with Chamber for festival photo competition

The Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with The Erwin Record this year to give amateur photographers in the area a chance to show off their skills.
The “Picture Perfect” photography contest will include six categories in which contestants may submit photographs, including inanimate objects, people, animals, plants/flowers, landscapes and water scenes.
Contestants may enter one black and white photograph and one color photograph only in each category, and first-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded in each category.
Only amateur photographers will be permitted to enter the contest, and all entries must be printed on 8” x 10” and fixed on a white 11” x 14” matte. No photo frames or glass will be permitted in the contest.
A “Best of Show” award will be awarded to one entry chosen from among first-place winners in each category.
Winning photography will be displayed throughout the Apple Festival, which kicks off on Friday, Oct. 7 and wraps the next day, on Saturday, Oct. 8.
All entries must be submitted to the Chamber of Commerce, at 100 S. Main Ave., or to The Erwin Record, at 218 Gay St., by Friday, Sept. 30.
All photos and prize ribbons may be picked up at the Chamber the week after the Apple Festival.
“We are so excited to be a part of this contest this year,” Erwin Record publisher Keith Whitson said last week. “There are so many talented photographers out there, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to show off their work in the community.”
Any questions concerning the contest may be directed to the Chamber by calling 743-3000, or to The Erwin Record by calling 743-4112.
