Poet's Corner: Purple Iris
by Pam Turner
It was Easter Sunday morning
A day of celebration
For over 2000 years
Weve had His promise of salvation
Spring has arrived
Dogwoods in full bloom
All others soon will follow
After winters solemn gloom
A variety of sprigs and sprouts
The flower garden is growing
Sun shining so bright
Warm winds gently blowing
It was then that I saw it
Standing still, all alone
From the underground bulbs
Now it is full grown
The meaning was clear to me
It touched the depth of my heart
One glorious Purple Iris
Reminds me this day is set apart
For one lonely flower
A reminder of His glory
Speaks a million words
To tell my Saviors story
