Workshop focuses on storytelling skills

The Jonesborough Storytellers Guild will hold a day of mini-workshops on ways to improve storytelling skills March 5 from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Central Christian Church at the corner of 106 Fox St. and Main Street in Jonesborough.
Workshop topics, and their leaders, include: Engaging the Audience by Dr. Charlene Thomas; How to develop Personal Tales into Tellable Tales by Saundra Kelley; Practicing and Perfecting Stories for Telling by Larry Kelley, Tricks for Crafting Two-Minute Tales by Marjorie Shaefer; Video Workshop by Tony Marr; Bio Essentials by Molly Catron; Hidden Treasures – our Supporting Members, by Jo Anne Jones.
 A panel discussion, Insightful Sharing from the Experienced, will close the day. Composed of Jonesborough Storytellers Guild Founding Members and other experienced tellers, this session will provide methods for story development and performance techniques. Joe Miller, founder of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild and special guest speaker, will be on hand to share his experiences of the early days of storytelling in the area and his career as a professional storyteller.
