THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS OF TENNESSEE… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EST WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
* EVENT… RAIN SHOWERS WILL CHANGE QUICKLY TO SNOW SHOWERS LATE TONIGHT. SNOW TOTALS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.
* TIMING… STARTING BETWEEN 3AM AND 6AM WEDNESDAY… THEN TAPERING OFF LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
* IMPACTS… ACCUMULATING SNOWS ARE EXPECTED… MAKING TRAVEL ON SOME ROADS HAZARDOUS. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BE FALLING AT RUSH HOUR ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.

WINTER STORM TO ENTER THE AREA LATE TONIGHT THROUGH PARTS OF WEDNESDAY…
.A WINTER WEATHER SYSTEM FROM THE PLAINS WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA TONIGHT WITH RAIN SHOWERS SPREADING ACROSS THE AREA FROM WEST TO EAST. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO SNOW WITH IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF HOURS… AND BY RUSH HOUR WEDNESDAY MORNING… MUCH OF THE AREA WILL BE RECEIVING LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW. THE SYSTEM WILL SLOWLY EXIT THE AREA TO THE EAST… WITH SNOWS LINGERING IN THE MOUNTAINS INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT
