Unicoi farmers market gets boost from town
Even with a $500 sponsorship approved by the town of Unicoi at their meeting on Monday, Alderman Michael Phillips said theres still some uncertainty about the initiation of a farmers market for the town.
This is our first year, said Phillips, who assists with the farmers market committee. We dont know what to expect as far as people showing up to be vendors.
The money would help the farmers market committee secure signage and a few advertisements, said Phillips.
Weve worked on the bylaws and we need a little bit of money to get us started, said Phillips. Hopefully we will be able to benefit more than the $500 were asking for in business opportunity for the town.
However, Alderman David Ramsey had some concern about using the parking lot of the house the county purchased for the new welcome center off Exit 32.
