The sale of Unicoi County Memorial Hospital to Mountain States Health Alliance is expected to close no later than Nov. 1. The date of completion I still believe to be Nov. 1, said Tracy Byers, CEO of UCMH. I believe from the attorney generals office a letter of no contest will be issued tomorrow [Oct. 30] or Thursday [Oct. 31]. We will do something to make it official presumably no later than Friday [Nov. 1]. As of the closure of the sale, the hospital will no longer be publicly owned. Instead, it will be owned by MSHA, a nonprofit medical group that currently services 29 counties across four states.
