UCHS pep rally set for Aug. 27

The town of Erwin and the Erwin Downtown Merchants Association will host a pep rally and bonfire in honor of the Unicoi County High School Blue Devil football team on Thursday, Aug. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend the event, which will be held in the parking lot on the corner of Love Street and Main Avenue in downtown Erwin.
Head football coach Glenn White will speak and there will be performances by the UCHS cheerleaders and Blue Devil marching band.
Following the pep rally, a bonfire will be held in the grassy field located at the corner of Love Street and Church Avenue.
Food and other items will be available at the downtown businesses.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and show their support for the downtown merchants and the Blue Devils ahead of the Friday, Aug. 28, home game against Sullivan East.
Prior to the Aug. 28 kickoff at 7:30 p.m., the town and merchants will also host a pregame tailgate and parade in downtown Erwin.
Everyone is invited to park downtown and spend the time before the game visiting with other Blue Devil fans and dining at one of the downtown restaurants. The tailgate will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include live music.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and will travel on Main Avenue from Tucker Street to Love Street before turning onto Love, then onto Elm Avenue and end at Gentry Stadium.
