Temporary mental health office opens in Unicoi

Frontier’s Erwin Mental Health Center has reopened in a new, temporary location, according to health system officials.
A fire on June 10 damaged the Erwin office on Main Avenue and led to the closure of the facility. According to a press release from Frontier Health, the Erwin office is currently being repaired and renovated.
The temporary office is located at 36144 Unicoi Drive, Suite A, in the Town of Unicoi. It was scheduled to open for business on Monday, Nov. 24.
“Reopening following the fire has taken longer than expected, but we’re very excited about being able to open a temporary location,” said Frontier Health President Teresa Kidd, PhD.
According to the health system, mental health outpatient treatment is provided through the office for adults, children, adolescents and families. Licensed or licensed-eligible clinicians provide the treatment.
Psychiatric services provided include medication evaluation and monitoring for those on psychotropic medication as part of their comprehensive plans.
Case management is also offered.
