System announces schedule changes

From Staff Reports
Due to the recent inclement weather, the Unicoi County School System has made schedule changes.
A press release from the system reported that the end date for the third nine weeks has changed because of the days missed. The end date for the third nine weeks is now March 20.
Report cards will be sent home on March 25.
Parent-teacher conferences are now scheduled for March 26 from 1 to 6 p.m. Students will dismiss early that day. Elementary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.; the intermediate, middle and high schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
As of March 9, the school system has missed 18 days due to inclement weather. The system had scheduled 13 snow days, meaning five days will need to be made up.
One of these days will be made up on May 11. This was originally scheduled as a discretionary day and has now been changed to a regular instructional school day. Another day is scheduled to be made up on May 21.
According to the school system’s website, a waiver has been granted by the Tennessee State Board of Education for the remaining three days; therefore, those days will not have to be made up.
