Student Council plans events for county

The Unicoi County High School Student Council has been working non-stop to bring back the ‘pep’ back to UCHS.

Council members have done a successful job at bringing the “Blue Devil Pride” back to UCHS, but now they are trying to bring the spirt beyond the students by hosting two events at Wal-Mart, in Unicoi.

The first event will be a free car show on October 5. Everyone is invited to come and park their cars that they would like to display- all the council asks to make a donation to park a car. The car show will be held in Wal-Mart’s parking lot, from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend to show their support for the school. The Student Council Officers will be present to take up any donations.

The second event will be a Blue Devil Spirit Night on October 12. At this event there will be a parade, games, introduction of all homecoming candidates, and dancing. The parade will include all Unicoi County sports starting at 5:00 p.m. Clubs from UCHS and local Relay for Life Teams will set up areas with games and items for sale.

This will be a community pep rally, as well as a fundraiser for all clubs and organizations with booths.

Student Council members are hosting this event in an effort to win a contest through Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola to have the most school spirited school. If Unicoi County High School wins, the Student Council will receive a $2,500 check. Just for participating, the Council will receive $1,000. With the money won, the council plans on purchasing outdoor eating tables, as well as other needed items for the student body.

If you plan to attend either event, please wear your Unicoi County memorabilia. For more information contact Student Council President Austin Finch at 423-534-0381.
