The Unicoi County School System has launched the K12 Alerts system, which enables parents, teachers and staff members to received urgent school information, according to a K12 Alerts press release.
Emergencies reported over the free automated notification service will include loss of power, building lockdowns, weather-related school closings and early dismissals.
One of our core goals is to rapidly inform parents and staff members about any imminent emergency or other crisis, the K12 Alerts system is an essential tool that will provide timely information to parents, teachers and staff members, said Denise Brown, director of schools, in the press release. The systems multilingual capabilities allow for broader communications to families that do not have access to traditional media.
The K12 Alerts system can send messages in multiple languages and work with any Internet enabled device like a smartphone or computer. Letters containing login information have been mailed out, the release states.
