Road work closer to completion

Detours and frequent traffic stalls have been common sites along some Erwin roads recently, but Erwin City Recorder Randy Trivette said the inconvenience now will be worth it once the road projects are completed.
Trivette updated the Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen on the road projects last week.
“We have 44 miles of road in the city of Erwin, and I wish we had enough money to pave them all right now,” Trivette said.
Currently, the roads that are receiving treatment are Main Avenue, Elm Avenue, Gay Street and Mohawk Drive. The roads have been milled and resurfacing will be taking place over the next few days and weeks.
Once those streets are complete, the next up in line will be Horton Ridge Road, Seventh Street, South Elm Avenue and New Street.
Work will continue at these locations and motorists are cautioned to be aware of the traffic signs and flagmen.
