Residents celebrate holiday with special event

Folks braved the icy weather and made their way out to Governor’s Bend Retirement & Assisted Living for a Valentine’s Day Tea Party Friday afternoon for the residents and their families.
All of the residents invited a few guests, according to Governor’s Bend director Johnnie Lyons. Those that attended were clad in red for the occasion.
Lyons took a moment to welcome all of the guests, thanking them for taking the time to stop by despite the snow and cold temperatures.
As folks began getting in line for food, which consisted of all kinds of cookies, sandwiches and fruits provided by the Governor’s Bend dietary department, Lisa White played a few tunes on the piano.
Lyons estimated that approximately 70 people were expected for the day’s activities and that everyone that showed up seemed to have a great time.
