Relay set for Friday

The Relay For Life of Unicoi County will be traveling through time Friday night at the Unicoi County High School track.
The all-night event begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and lasts until 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Each participating team has selected a decade or span of time to represent and will have food, games and activities at its camp sites. For a detailed list of each team’s plan, see the event program inserted into this week’s issue of The Erwin Record.
The entertainment line up will include some familiar acts as well as some new faces.
Performances will include Anne Malone Thomas and Trevor Cable, the Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church Drama Team, The Runaways with Jesse Wade and Robert Arrowood, Rob Russell, and The Acoustixs with Adam Clouse and John Riddle will wind down the night.
The Luminaria Ceremony, honoring those who have battled cancer, will begin at 10 p.m.
Luminaria bags containing candles for the ceremony can be bought at The Erwin Record prior to the event for $5, or at the Luminaria tent until 9 p.m. on Relay night.
Throughout the night, there will be inflatables available for kids, games, contests, musical entertainment, silent auctions, food, and of course, the Relay. The cost of the food and games starts at 50 cents. Teams will be serving drinks, grilled items, desserts, fruit, pizza and more.
