Piercy to help lead Record

Anthony Piercy, a six-year employee of The Erwin Record, has returned to the staff full-time as the newspaper’s managing editor and print shop supervisor.
“I’m thrilled that Anthony has re-joined our staff full time,” said Publisher Keith Whitson. “His motivation and deep ties in our community will help take our newspaper to the next level.”
Piercy originally joined The Erwin Record staff in 2006 as a photographer, primarily shooting sports. In July of 2006 he became the newspaper’s graphic designer and stayed in that position until March of 2010.
For the past year he has worked for the newspaper part-time as the managing sports editor, and in addition, worked in the income development department of the American Cancer Society in Northeast Tennessee.
Piercy is a 2006 graduate of Unicoi County High School and is a student at East Tennessee State University.
He has won numerous awards from the Tennessee Press Association for his advertising designs, including three first place awards and 10 second and third place awards. He also received a first place award for his work on the newspaper’s web site.
