Peek previously worked as an advertising representative for the Johnson City Press from 1988 to 2004 and the Elizabethton Star from 2004-2015. Peek, who has been with the Jonesborough Herald and Tribune since 2015, will continue in sales with the sister paper of The Erwin Record, managing her time between Jonesborough and Unicoi County.

She is a graduate of Southwest Virginia Community College, Cedar Bluff, Virginia, with an associate’s degree in secretarial science.

Peek said sales is in her blood, going back to her time in Girl Scouts selling cookies and her active participation in various school fundraisers. “I’m a strong believer in print advertising,” Peek said, adding that she is looking forward to seeing to the advertising needs of Unicoi County businesses.

Erwin Record Publisher Lisa Whaley believes Peek will be an excellent fit for The Erwin Record. “Marcella has already proven herself as a great representative for community newspapers,” Whaley said. “She genuinely cares about each and every one of her customers and is dedicated to making sure our newspaper provides them with a voice in the Valley Beautiful.”

Peek said she is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Marie, 23, and Melanie, 21. In her leisure time, she enjoys baking and reading.
