No threat found in suspicious packages

Unicoi County was not exempt from the suspected multiple bomb threats reported in the region on Monday.
But by the end of the day, law enforcement was able to confirm the packages were intended as gifts.
“There are no charges on the guy,” Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley said Monday night. “He was just more or less leaving them as gifts. They were actually plates that said Happy Easter.”
Hensley said officials from the FBI, ATF and Johnson City Police Department interviewed the suspect on Monday.
A press release from the Johnson City Police Department confirms the items left at various locations were gifts.
“The Johnson City Police Department has identified the individual responsible for delivering packages to numerous businesses throughout Johnson City as well as the Tri-Cities area,” the release states.
“After speaking with this individual, it has been determined that there was neither criminal intent nor threat to harm by this person.”
