New ranger appointed to district

Cherokee National Forest Supervisor, JaSal Morris recently announced the arrival of Keith Kelley as the new Watauga District Ranger. The Watauga Ranger District Office is located in Unicoi. According to a press release issued by the district, Kelley transferred from the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri where he served as a Zone Fire Management Officer on the Eleven Point Ranger District.
“Keith Kelley’s field experience and knowledge will be invaluable to us,” Supervisor Morris said. “He has demonstrated his understanding of natural resources, leadership qualities, and interpersonal skills time and again. Keith will be a great addition to our staff.”
Kelley started his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an Engineering (USACE) Aid in 1991. He received a Wildlife Biology degree in 1995 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
