Local Skills USA students to compete at state level

Unicoi County Skills USA students from career and technical departments have qualified for state competition which will take place in Chattanooga April 22-25.

Skills USA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers, high school, and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. It was formerly known as VICA.

The students took part in the regional competition held at Northeast State Community College Feb 28. and qualified for the state competition.

Competing were: Jessica Woodby, cosmetology; Cheyenne Hahn, cosmetology job skill demonstration; Kayla Sandidge, fantasy make up (regional competition only); Logan Higgins, architectural drafting; Jose Andrade, technical drafting; Willy Edwards, engine performance; Chase Honeycutt, automotive electrical/electronic; Brittany Hampton, welding sculpture; Nick Meadows, computer repair job skill demonstration; Adam Howard, telecommunication cabling; Greg Franklin, technical computer applications; Jacob Lewis, automotive refinishing technology; and Cody Bradley, collision repair technology.
