The Unicoi County Middle School softball team is now sitting at 5-0.
Recently, the Lady Devils encountered the Church Hill Lady Panthers in a road game. The Lady Blue really came out swinging and slugged their way to a 12-1 rout of the Lady Panthers in a game shortened due to the mercy rule.
On the way to victory, four different Lady Devils hit long balls. Among the home run hitters were Ashley Edwards, Halie Padgett, Savannah Lafever and Hannah Bowen. Lafever went 3-4 with an outstanding five RBIs.
Lafever and Bowen both took the mound for UCMS compiling nine strikeouts on the night. Other contributors for the Lady Devils included Cassie Foster who went 2-4 with two singles and Keelie Hall who chipped in a double, an RBI, and reached base three times.
On April 2, the Lady Devils faced Liberty Bell in Johnson city. This was one of the closest games this season for the Lady Devils, as they won 8-4. The Lady Devils didnt always have the upper hand, though. It took extra innings to get the win against a much improved Liberty Bell squad.
