Hunter Education Class begins Sept. 1

A Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency endorsed hunter education class is scheduled to be held at Erwin Town Hall beginning Monday, Sept. 1, and continuing until Friday, Sept. 5.
A live firing exercise is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, for those who pass the written exam on Friday.
All registrations for hunter education classes must be completed online at tnwildlife.org prior to the first day of class. Follow the prompts for hunters on the web page.
Every person born on or after Jan. 1, 1969, before hunting, must possess, in addition to all other licenses and permits required, proof of satisfactory completion of an agency approved hunter education course.
Also, if you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1969, you must possess proof of successful completion of a hunter education class before hunting in Tennessee.
Those under 10 years of age do not need a hunter education certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age, who must remain in position to take immediate control of the hunting device.
Anyone wishing to participate in the class must be at least nine years old when the class starts.
The class will begin at 6 p.m. each night. The class will be instructed by Jerry Hopson. For more information, call 423-743-8754.
