‘Honor My Grad’ free feature now available online

From Staff Reports

Want to honor your graduating senior? The Erwin Record can help.

With high school and college graduations either on hold or held virtually, local graduates and their families are feeling the sting of the novel coronavirus.

That’s why Six Rivers Media’s five local newspapers, including The Erwin Record, are stepping up to help honor these students’ journeys and accomplishments with a new free feature, “Honor My Grad.”

On each newspaper’s website, parents will find a way to post photos and list their graduates achievements online for a year. This special “Honor My Graduate” directory can be found directly beneath the logo on the website. You can reach The Erwin Record’s special page directly at erwinrecord.net/graduation-2020/.

Users just need to click, upload a photo, choose a school and fill out a simple form. Parents and grandparents can honor their graduates from local high schools, other high schools, and even colleges.

“This graduation season is unlike any that have come before,” said Publisher Lisa Whaley. “There has been so much that has had to change. But one thing we didn’t want to change was the pride and excitement felt by these graduating students and their families.”

Through “Honor My Grad,” friends and family members across the region can share in each graduate’s excitement, all without having to leave their homes, by visiting erwinrecord.net and clicking on Unicoi County High School for a list of graduates.

In addition to the “Honor My Grad” feature, the Record will also be spotlighting graduates in the May 27 issue with its annual salute to the Unicoi County High School Class of 2020.

“We are determined here at The Erwin Record to do anything we can to recognize our graduates and remind them of all they have accomplished,” Whaley said. “Please join us as we congratulate the Class of 2020 as they get ready for their new lives. If you have any questions or ideas, give us a call at 743-4112. We are always happy to talk with you.”

Along with The Erwin Record, newspapers participating in “Honor My Grad” are the Johnson City Press, Kingsport Times News, The Herald & Tribune in Jonesborough and The Tomahawk in Mountain City.
