Two Erwin men have been charged by the Johnson City Police Department with theft over $1,000, fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and identity theft.
According to a report written by JCPD Investigator Brady Higgins, officers of the JCPD arrested Danny Joe Whitson, 24, and Payton Osborne, 27, for six counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, six counts of identity theft and theft over $1,000.
The arrest is the result of an investigation of a report of credit card fraud. On April 6, the victim of the alleged fraud reported that she had multiple transactions on her bank statement that she did not approve.
According to the report, investigators were able to obtain video footage showing Whitson and Osborne making multiple transactions.
On May 27, Osborne was located and transported to the Washington County Detention Center and arraigned in Washington County General Sessions Court on May 28.
On June 23, Whitson was served with an active warrant while being held on unrelated charges at the Washington County Detention Center. Whitson was scheduled for an arraignment in Washington County General Sessions Court on June 24.
