Erwin blood drive set for June 22

At a time when the supply of type O negative blood at the American Red Cross has dropped to critically low levels, a drive will be held Tuesday, June 22, at Erwin Health Care from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Erwin Health Care is at 100 Stallings Lane, Erwin. Call 743-4131 for information or to schedule an appointment. All presenting donors at the Erwin drive will receive a Red Cross Tote bag.
Type O negative blood is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations. Type O negative donors are needed to help prevent the type O negative blood supply from reaching a crisis level.
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood. Donors need to take their Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when going to donate.
