Democrats to meet Dec. 11

The Unicoi County Democratic Party will meet Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at Erwin Town Hall.
The agenda will include discussion of the November election results, specifically, foreign mystery money ($1.2 million) pumped into GOP races the last two weeks of the campaign, that bought the November election in Tennessee will be discussed, according to local Democratic representatives.
Discussions will also include GOP-proposed tax breaks ($700 billion) for the top 2 percent of wealthiest Americans, GOP purposed slashing of extended unemployment benefits for 2 million Americans, and GOP campaign promises and plans to slash 25 percent of the budget by slashing undisclosed Middle Class benefits.
The party will also discuss the TNDP Chair’s race and upcoming county party reorganization. Progress of the UCDP website will also be discussed.
The local party will discuss progress of the group’s effort on collecting items needed for the Northeast Tennessee Program placing area homeless citizens in permanent housing. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call Mike K. Hampton at 743-7608.
