Crews begin work at Bojangles site

Construction has begun on the future home of the Bojangles restaurant that will sit adjacent to Pal’s Sudden Service on Second Street in Erwin.
Last week, Rigsby Family Holdings, LLC., an Asheville-based company, completed the purchase of the restaurant site from Marotta Enterprises, LLC. for $500,000. A building permit was also acquired allowing for construction to commence.
The project will be completed sometime during “the first quarter” of 2015, according to Erwin City Recorder Glenn Rosenoff. Crews broke ground on the project last week. Rosenoff said that the grading was complete and that the next phase of the project will consist of pouring the fillers.
Back in October, discussions began between the two parties in a development meeting that marked the first time that all parties, including representatives from Bojangles, Taco Bell and the Town of Erwin, had been able to sit down in a formal discussion. Rosenoff said at the time that the meeting went “very well” and that both Bojangles and Taco Bell would be moving forward in the coming weeks.
The approval for the construction of Bojangles was facilitated at the Oct. 22 Erwin Planning Commission Meeting.
Taco Bell has also been in talks to build on the lot behind Bojangles. Those talks are currently in progress.
