CHIPs announces facility expansion

Change is Possible (CHIPS) will soon be receiving a significant expansion and upgrade to their facilities as part of an Emergency Solutions Grant from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.
The CHIPS main office located on Main Street will be receiving an upgrade which will allot for the addition of three new offices, a boardroom and a locked file room. The grant and increase in office space will help CHIPS in a variety of ways, from logistics to victim assistance. The total square footage will be around 1,102 feet.
“It allows us to help victims to transition from shelters to their own home,” said director Jewel DeBord. “CHIPS will assist with utilities.”
The grant will assist in the ‘rapid re-housing’ aspect of CHIPS’ program. The additions will more than double the current office space. Work started this week and will take approximately three months to complete. Gas lines and power lines have already been moved.
“Our program is growing,” said DeBord.
In addition to the increase in office space, CHIPS has also hired an official Rapid Re-housing Manager, Kim Squibb. Anyone with questions regarding the Rapid Re-housing Program aspect of CHIPS is encouraged to call the office and simply ask for Squibb. CHIPS number is 743-0022.
“It’s going to really help with client confidentiality,” said DeBord. “We’re very excited.”
