Chamber announces July 4 parade

A special parade, coordinated by the Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Saturday, July 4, to honor all veterans who have heroically served our country in both active and inactive duty in all branches of the military. This year will mark the 2nd Annual “Welcome Home Veterans” parade in downtown Erwin.
According to the Chamber, businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals are encouraged to enter homemade floats in the parade. All entries must be decorated with a patriot theme or “Welcome Home” message for veterans.
“Many have given their time and often their lives to protect our freedoms and answered the call when our nation needed them the most,” Chamber Executive Director Amanda Delp said. “They deserve our honor and respect for their sacrifices. “We invite you to take this opportunity to say thank you and show your appreciation by attending this event planned to honor our military veterans.”
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Food Lion Parking Lot located at 915 North Main Ave. The parade will leave the parking lot and travel down Main Avenue to Love Street, then turn onto Elm Street, ending at the Veteran’s Memorial Park.
A complimentary hot dog lunch will be provided by the Town of Erwin for the veterans and their families at the park.
Anyone wishing to participate, is asked to contact the Chamber of Commerce at 743-3000 to register.
