Board to hear proposals from health systems

In a notice sent to local media outlets on Monday, the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Board of Control announced that it will hold a called meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital boardroom.
The UCMH board announced that it will meet in strategic planning session with Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont, the two health systems seeking to acquire the facility, in order ask questions regarding the health systems’ proposals which were issued on October 10.
“This meeting will be called to order at 3 p.m. and will immediately move into strategic planning session for the purpose of presentations and a question-and-answer session with both Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont Health System,” the notice issued on Monday said.
MSHA representatives are scheduled to present their proposal at 3 p.m. Wellmont representatives will present their proposal at 4:30 p.m.
The UCMH board met in strategic planning on Wednesday, Nov. 7, “to work with attorneys from McGuire, Wood and Bissette, PA on the proposed hospital transaction,” a notice issued by UCMH on Nov. 2 stated.
