The Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously passed a resolution authorizing the town to borrow up to $3.5 million for various public works projects, including the final two phases of the downtown revitalization project.
Mayor Doris Hensley was joined by aldermen Gary Chandler, Sue Jean Wilson and Gary Edwards in approving the resolution, which is number 1203-14, during the boards Jan. 13 meeting. Aldermen Lester Bailey and Robbie Sullins were absent from the meeting. At our last meeting we discussed
doing a bond issue so we could finish the downtown revitalization, Hensley said prior to the vote. Also in this [resolution] we have included some improvements and repair work to Fishery Park, as well as other improvements in town, such as water retention and improvements at the Harris Hollow Exit.
