BMA honors local girl for good deed

At the beginning of Monday’s meeting of the Unicoi Board of Mayor and Aldermen the panel observed a moment of silence in memory of Alderman Mike Phillips who recently passed away.
“He made a good contribution to our town. … We’re going to really miss him,” Mayor Johnny Lynch said.
The board also honored eight-year-old Lillian Hopson with an official honesty proclamation. Earlier this month, Hopson found $350 in an envelope in the parking lot of the Unicoi Walmart and made sure the money was returned to its owner.
