Blue Devils, Lady Devils earn regional titles

The Blue Devils and Lady Devils are only one game away from the state tournament.
Coach Charlie Baxter and company will now host a sectional game after a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Greeneville.
Freshman Ethan Rice went 4-4 at the plate driving in five runs, including a three-run homerun (number two on the season) in the beginning of the game and the two RBI single that put Unicoi on top.
Coty Vanhoy contributed homerun number six on a three-run blast that placed Unicoi back in the game, 7-8.
Austin Arrowood threw his second complete game of the season, and picked up his third win.
On the girls side of the bracket, Unicoi County (44-4) will now host a sectional game at the Lady Devil Diamond as Kara Woods' struck out 10 and drove in Unicoi's lone run in a 1-0 win over Chuckey-Doak in Afton.
A one-hitter was allowed by Woods during the game.
Chelsey Gardner made her return to the lineup following an injury from Monday's win over Grainger.
The Lady Devils and Blue Devils will play in sub-state games on Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m. at Baxter Field and the Lady Devil Diamond.
