Back to the AG – Part 2

The acquisition of
Unicoi County Memorial
Hospital by Mountain
States Health Alliance
could be nearing completion
as the acquisition
returns to the Tennessee
Attorney General for
the second time. If the attorney
general does not
have concerns this time,
officials hope the sale will
close by Nov. 1.
In its proposal to acquire
UCMH, MSHA
pledged to build a new,
state-of-the-art inpatient
acute care facility in the
town of Erwin. The health
system also promised to
keep the current UCMH
facility, including its Long
Term Care Unit, in operation
until the new facility
opens and to assume the
estimated $6 million debt
UCMH will carry when
the sale closes.
