Angie Williams arrested, faces 10 charges of theft

Angie Williams, the former finance director for the Unicoi County School System, has been arrested and charged with 10 counts of theft, according to Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson.
The police chief said the 39-year-old Erwin woman will face eight charges of theft over $1,000, one count over $500 and one count of theft under $500.
The charges, Tilson said, are “related to activities that occurred from September 2009 until May 2010.”
Williams will appear in Unicoi County General Sessions Court July 1.
She resigned in May, and Director of Schools Denise Brown issued a press release saying Williams had taken nearly $21,000 of school funds for “personal use.”
Williams’ husband, Brad, a teacher and band director at Unicoi County High School, supplied the school system with a check for nearly $21,000 after Brown’s announcement.
