Alexander announces deal to life of Erwin fish hatchery

Erwin's National Fish Hatchery will remain open for at least three more years, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander announced on Friday.
In a conference call Friday morning, Alexander said, “This has been a week of good news for Tennessee fisheries. TVA has announced today they will be participating with three year agreement that will keep the Erwin hatchery open.
“I know this has been a source of great concern to (Unicoi County).”
The Maryville native said the Valley Beautiful has “a special place in my heart.” He explained that 30 years ago when he served as governor he and his wife, Honey, opened a community center here.
“The fishery is a source of great local pride for Unicoi County and Upper East Tennessee. This agreement by TVA to agree to funding by purchasing from the Erwin fish hatchery will allow the fishery to stay open at least three more years,” Alexander stated.
