Airman White’s escort to begin at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at airport

An official time has been announced for an escort to return Senior Airman Benjamin D. White’s body to Erwin from Tri-Cities Regional Airport on Saturday.
Officials say a plane from Dover Air Force Base will arrive at the Blountville airport at approximately 9:10 a.m. Airman White will receive full military honors as his casket leaves the plane and is taken to the awaiting escort.
Unicoi County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Ron Arnold is assisting the family in organizing the escort.
The route for the escort will go from the airport, onto Bobby Hicks Highway to Interstate 26. From there, the escort will run east bound into Unicoi County to Jackson Love Highway at Exit 40, left onto Jackson Love Highway to Ohio Avenue. From Ohio Avenue, the processional will turn left onto Love Street and continue to Main Avenue. The escort will turn right onto Main Avenue from Love Street and proceed to Erwin Memorial Funeral Home at 1015 N. Main Ave.
Citizens are encouraged to line the roadways as a sign of respect and honor to White, Arnold.
The escort must travel at normal speed along the route, so it will not be moving at a slow pace.
