‘Science Guy’ set to share adventure

Our Summer Reading Program for adults continues with our special Tuesday game night at 6 p.m. on July 17.
Join us to play “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night” and test your knowledge of first lines from twelve different kinds of books. We will be playing in teams, so a large number may participate. If you really like to read, you should really enjoy this game.
In keeping with our nighttime theme, a guide from Appalachian Ghost Walks will be here on Thursday, July 26, to tell us about some ethereal patrons who have come to the library, but who have never checked out.
You won’t want to miss this grand finale to our adult Summer Reading Program!

Children’s SRP
Children of all ages are invited to join us on Thursday, July 19, for “Mr. Bond’s Big Adventure.”
Mr. Bond, the Science Guy, will make science experiments fun at 3 p.m. at Erwin Town Hall.
Last year the kids were enthralled, so don’t miss it.
Our Friday Fun Days returns to the library on July 20 with a Movie Day in our Children’s Room at 3 p.m. In celebration of our Summer Reading Program motto, “Dream Big, Read,” the PG-rated movie, which was inspired by actual events, will show kids what it means to dream really big! Refreshments will be served.

Board Meeting
The Board of Trustees of the Unicoi County Public Library will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, in the library lobby. The library’s internet safety policy will be considered. The public is welcome to attend.

New Releases
The first of these eagerly awaited novels is James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge’s “I, Michael Bennett.” When New York City detective Michael Bennett arrests a notorious Mexican crime boss, the prisoner vows to avenge himself on Bennett and the city.
Hoping to protect his 10 children from the erupting violence, Bennett takes them and their nanny to his family’s cabin in upstate New York, only to discover that they have jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
When a San Francisco trial judge is shot, but not killed, suspicion naturally falls on the couple over whose murder trial he is presiding. A ruthless killer, who may — or may not — be named Sue, is the prey of FBI agents Dillon Savitch and Lacey Sherlock in Catherine Coulter’s latest thriller, “Backfire.”
