‘Record of Service’ honorees to be revealed Thursday

This year’s Record of Service Award winners will be honored at this Thursday evening’s ceremony, to be held at Unicoi United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m.
The Record of Service Awards event, in its fifth year, is held annually by The Erwin Record in an effort to recognize individuals – citizens, officials and organizations – who contribute to the community and serve the people and interests of Unicoi County.
Six awards, in the categories of Health Care, Business, Education, Emergency Services, Public Service and Service to the Community, will be presented Thursday evening.
Nominations in the six categories opened last month and recently closed, with award winners selected last week based on material on each nominee submitted by members of the community.
“I am excited for The Erwin Record to once again be honoring noteworthy organizations and citizens of our county that are due recognition,” Record Publisher Keith Whitson said Monday. “We had many wonderful submissions this year, who were all great in their own right.
“Those selected have made a difference in the lives of many and have made our county better through their efforts.”
The event will be catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Tickets to the event are $15 per person, with all proceeds benefiting the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center and the Unicoi County Humane Society.
