From Staff Reports
The Chuckey Depot Museum in Jonesborough will host a reception for its newest exhibit “As Fast As Birds Can Fly: The ET & WNC (Tweetsie) Railroad” on Saturday, June 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. The ET & WNC railroad ran from Johnson City through Elizabethton on its way to North Carolina. This narrow gauge railroad only lasted from the 1880s through 1950, but made a lasting impact on the region.
The exhibit includes several artifacts from the ET & WNC’s storied history, as well as photographs taken by people who worked on the railroad line. The exhibit originally debuted in March, but due to COVID-19 the museum was unable to have an opening reception. Now, they’re ready to celebrate the exhibit and the history. They are open between 1 and 3 p.m. on June 26 for and interesting history exhibit and refreshments. The Chuckey Depot Museum is free of charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.
Normal museum hours are Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ET & WNC exhibit will be on display at the museum through August.
