New owner thrilled to run Clinchfield Sub Station with his son and daughter

A popular sandwich shop has a new owner who says he remains committed to continuing the quality cuisine that has been established in Erwin.

Roger Miller is the new owner of Clinchfield Sub Station, located at 105 Rock Creek Road in Erwin, but don’t expect any drastic changes.

“We purchased this restaurant roughly three months ago,” Miller told The Erwin Record.

“The previous owner is a friend of mine and has created something special here,” Miller added.

The popular sandwich shop has established quite a following.

“We have amazing customers,” Miller said.

“The number one thing that we sell is our Philly sandwiches,” he added. “Our Philly Steaks and our Philly Chickens are very popular.”

Clinchfield Sub Station continues to offer a variety of menu options for its customers.

“We recently added new sandwiches to the menu,” Miller said. “We added a French Dip and Meatball Sub. We also have added a Hot Ham and Swiss, California Chicken and a Turkey and Bacon Ranch Sandwich to the menu.”

Customers can also add a side of waffle fries to any sandwich. The menu also includes such items as burgers and a fried bologna sandwich.

In addition to the expanded menu, Miller is hoping to expand the business’s hours of operation.

“I’m looking at the possibility of opening up some on the weekends soon,” Miller said.

Miller is no stranger to the food service industry and hopes to bring his experience to town.

“I’ve worked at several spots in the area,” Miller said. “I have worked at Poor Richard’s, Stir Fry and Sushi Blues.”

Miller noted that he actually got his start at The Parson’s Table, an iconic restaurant in historic Jonesborough.

For Miller, who runs Clinchfield Sub Station with his children, Ashley and Jacob, the opportunity to run an Erwin restaurant with his family is a dream come true.

“I’m so blessed to run this place with my children,” Miller said. “We are excited and honored to be here in Unicoi County.”

He added, “We value customer service and quality as our number one priority. We want our customers to leave happy.”
