Library Happenings – Staff hopes in-person youth programs can resume

Contributed by Betty Stevens,

We continue to be very busy here at the library. Now that fall has arrived, it’s time to get back to reading.

We have many new books which arrived during the summer months so come by and check some out!

Our staff has done a great job keeping everything sanitized and safe for your use. This keeps us busy but is so necessary as are our masks. Do keep yourself safe during these trying times.

Spotlight Book

I have chosen a brand new release for this week’s book review. Ken Follett, who has written many fascinating books, has a brand new one out – “The Evening and the Morning.”

If you read “The Pillars of the Earth” many years ago, you were prepared for the following three books which took those families into the twentieth century.

Now Follett has written the prequel to Pillars. It starts in 977 AD and tells the earlier part of this long story.

It’s a bigger book but well worth putting on your must read list. Should you be one of those who missed all these lovely stories, this will give you enough reading for many hours of enjoyment.

Book Sales

We continue to have book for sale in the basement as well as some upstairs, so if you want to add to your library, check these out. There are many children’s books as well as adult books from which to choose.

Children’s Programs

Our children’s and teen’s ladies are very hopeful that with school back in session, there will soon be opportunities for in person programs.

We have missed all that activity even though these gals have worked hard to keep some craft programs going as well as virtual storytimes.

Let’s hope for the best.
