The Blue Ridge Pottery Club meeting was held on Aug. 4, 2020, at the Maple Grove Restaurant in Unicoi at 5:30 p.m. Nineteen members attended.

We all ordered off the menu and had a nice supper. Gina Clark opened the meeting for discussion on several topics. Dianne Banks gave the treasurer’s report. I read the minutes to the members and advised that we will save money by sending the minutes via email.

The winner of our $500 scholarship was Bernice LuQuin from Unicoi County High School in Erwin. She also received a Blue Ridge Pottery pitcher called “Sculptured Fruit.” She will be studying pre-law at Milligan College in Elizabethton. She also won the Milligan College GOAH Diversity Scholarship awarded to full-time undergraduate students who will share their diverse culture experiences. She received full-time tuition.

The scholarship is competitive and there are a limited number of awards offered.

In spite of not having the Blue Ridge Pottery Show this year, we discussed designing a new ticket for winning a set of Blue Ridge dishes. Joey Lewis says we will give away a set of Blue Ridge dishes called “Poinsettia.” We will notify the general public when the tickets are ready.

The door prize winner of the Nove Rose plate was Glenna Lewis of Valley Beautiful Mall in Erwin.

Our next meeting will be Sept. 1, 2020 – Maple Grove Restaurant at 5:30 p.m.
