Eugene “Gene” Tipton, age 84, of Erwin, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Erwin and a son of Mary Magdaline (Whaley) Tipton and the late Chris Tipton. Gene was a proud veteran who served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Nuclear Fuel Services as an operator before retiring, after 32 years of service. Gene was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the VFW and the Moose Club. He was a very friendly man and never met a stranger. He enjoyed doing yard work and loved sports, his cars and spending time with family.

 

Eugene “Gene” Tipton has left behind to cherish his memories:

Wife of 60 years: Betty Jo Tipton;

Daughter: Regina Lane and husband Ron,

Son: Randall “Randy” Tipton and wife Missy;

Grandchildren: Shannon Manis;

Justin Hensley;

Christian Emmert;

Charity Tipton;

Cherith Tipton;

Two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Eugene “Gene” Tipton in a committal service to be at 1:45 PM, Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those attending will meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery by 1:40 PM for the service. Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Nelson, Chris Moon, Scott Foster, Tim Kaylor, Danny Whitson and Justin Hensley.
