Delbert Wayne “Skip” Smith of Bradenton, Florida passed away at home on January 12th.

Mr. Smith, 86, was a native of Hammond, IN. He and his wife June (Proctor) Smith relocated to Erwin, TN for his job with Superior Hone in 1960. In 1977 they and their two sons relocated to Bradenton where he was a plant manager for Midwest Abrasives.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Smith and his sons spent much time hunting and fishing together.

He served in the United States Army 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean conflict, spending most of his time stationed in Hokkaido, Japan.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife June, their infant daughter Luanne, and granddaughter Amber. He was one of ten children, three of whom (Alma Witthoeft, Janet Cumley, Melton “Mick” Smith) survive him.  He is also survived by his sons Dwayne (Nancy) Smith of Bradenton and Scott (Heidi) Smith of Palmetto, FL, five grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.

A Memorial service and a celebration of his life will take place at Christ Presbyterian Church, 515 Upper Manatee River Rd, Bradenton, FL on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM.  The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
