Clarence GENE Fowler, passed away after a brief illness on February 23, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol. Gene was born on April 2, 1938 in Erwin, TN, where he was a lifetime resident. He was the son of the late Clarence and Sarah (Peterson) Fowler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Blackburn) Fowler, his brother, Creston Fowler, his sister, Mildred Neal, and his grandson, Jason Wilson.

 

Gene attended Unicoi County High School, and retired from Hoover Ball Manufacturing Company. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, serving most of his time in Greenland where he worked in support and repair. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, where he was a past Governor, and was a past member of the board of the Elks Club.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Traci Ambrose Holloway (and her husband, Steve), of Erwin, TN, and Teresa Dragoo (and her husband, Nolan) of Panama City, FL. They cherished every moment with him. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Tonya Wilson Lane of Erwin, TN, and Travis Wilson of Panama City Beach, FL, four great grandchildren, Kraig Adkins, Bradley Wilson, Jayne Wilson, and Colsyn Wilson; his sister, Jackie Powers, his brother, Ted Fowler, and his special friend Beverly McCoy.

Gene enjoyed life and had hundreds of friends too numerous to mention. He will be sorely missed.

Committal services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 2:30 pm, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, TN, with military honors extended by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 of Kingsport, TN.
